Check your state's tint laws before you choose.
Darker shades reject more total heat. Per the Union Window Films spec sheet, total solar energy rejected (TSER) is 52.3% for the 20% shade and 49.4% for the 35% shade. A 35% shade on your front windows still gives you real heat rejection and 99%+ UV protection, so you don't need the darkest tint to get a cooler car.
